WNYAHL
Geneseo Youth Hockey / Livingston Blues Travel program plays in the Western New York Amateur Hockey Association (WNYAHL) at a Tier III level against similar youth hockey organizations across western New York. This is our most competitive level of play for skaters age 18 and under. Players will be selected for these teams on the basis of competitive tryouts held in March and April following the conclusion of each season. Teams will be major, minor or mixed (which is an age classification) and all teams will be at a Tier III level. 12U & Above Teams will have the option to play for a State Tournament, which is held in the spring. Only the team with the best record will be allowed to compete in the State Tournament.
Ages
Teams may be formed at the 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U levels if the talent in the spring tryouts/evaluations is sufficient to form a Travel team.
When
Tryouts are held in March and April. If teams are selected, they would start skating in August and run thru the end of February. 16U and 18U teams are split season and shut down for the high school season.
Where
Practice and home games are scheduled primarily at SUNY Geneseo Ice arena, but sometimes will be scheduled at other Rochester arenas depending on ice availability and time of the year. Away games will be played at the ice rink utilized by the away organizations.
Practices
Practices are held on weekdays and in most cases, teams will practice twice a week.
Games
Number of games depends on the age level and requirements set by WNYAHL. Games are usually around 20 +/-.
Jerseys
Travel jersey sets and socks are purchased separately by each player thru Geneseo Livingston Blues.
Each player should expect to supply all of their own equipment.
Extra Costs
Teams should have a team meeting early in the season and set expectations for additional costs. Examples of additional costs are: scrimmage games, tournament entry fees and team parties/events. Extra team costs are generally collected by the Team Manager.
